Gelfand Director of Engineering to Give Keynote

Girls Go! Science will take place on Saturday, April 23, at the Great Lakes Science Center. Me’lani Joseph, Director of Engineering at the Gelfand STEM Center, will be the featured Keynote speaker. Other presenters will include Tremco, Rockwell, NASA, and Lubrizol. Boys Go! Science will take place on Saturday, April 2, at the Great Lakes Science Center and will feature a Keynote from Craig Maxwell along with presenters from NEORSD, Sherwin Williams, National Technical Institute, and Hyland Software.

Girls Go! Science and Boys Go! Science programs provide a fun day of scientific exploration designed to spark imaginations and inspire boys and girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The hands-on career exploration workshops for these future STEM professionals in grades 6-12, led by scientists and STEM based professionals from around Northeast Ohio including academia as well as professional arenas, helps the youth recognize career-relevant STEM skills, expose them to successful male and female role models as well as identify possible career paths and educational requirements. In addition, male and female scientists from local universities will mentor the youth throughout the day, speaking informally and candidly about why they are pursuing STEM-related majors and careers. Both of these programs are exciting and engaging. They help the youth explore careers in a fun and casual environment, try out different branches of science, and make new friends.

The cost of the program is $35 per youth. That will include a full day of interactive activity, lunch, a t-shirt, and a host of other surprises. The youth can choose one morning session and one afternoon session, and specify their session preferences when they register. Great Lakes Science Center also provides full scholarships. Visit their website at www.GreatScience.com or call their reservations line at (216) 621-2400. Please contact Karyn Saunders at SaundersK@glsc.org for scholarship and group questions and registrations.
